A treasure trove curated with love by Anastasia and Maria, two friends who have known each other for over 43.5 years and have spent the last 13 discovering beautiful and unique finds for our shop.
Welcome to Grannysbox
Our journey began in 2013 when we both found ourselves on maternity leave, searching for something to keep us grounded amidst the chaos of new motherhood. Anastasia was living in an old Ukrainian professor's apartment, filled with antique treasures gathering dust on attic shelves. Inspired, we decided to bring these hidden gems to light by selling them on Etsy. Our adventure expanded to flea markets, where we stumbled upon the delicate beauty of vintage Christmas ornaments. Glass, fragile, and full of history, we wondered how we could possibly ship them without breakage.
Years have passed, and our collection has grown to about 100,000 Christmas ornaments from the 50s to the 70s. We even considered applying for a Guinness World Record, as nobody else boasts such a vast collection of holiday cheer.
From Ukraine, 2022 brought war to our doorstep. In March of that year, we used our shop to organize a significant fundraising effort to support people and animals affected by the conflict, raising around $50,000 with the help of our shop's friends. Maria continues her volunteer work, directing proceeds from our "Help Ukraine" section (https://grannysbox.etsy.com/listing/1188522935)

Despite the war, we've managed to keep our shop running for nearly two years. Sometimes in the dark, sometimes cold, often to the sound of sirens, we've continued to fulfill your orders. Every purchase is a beam of hope, a sign that after the war, we can continue the work of our lives.
Since 2022, Anastasia has been living in Germany, allowing us to bring European flea market finds to our store.
